Coming to the Magistrale

Each graduate will receive an invitation to the Magistrale ceremony only after receiving confirmation of his or her grade from the SAC.

Order your tickets

The number of places (limited for 2 guests per person) is also valid for the sections ceremonies which take place in the afternoon.

Because of the limited space in the auditorium and also because of a carefully planned seating arrangements, you cannot bring additional guests or use another graduating student’s tickets.

The Magistrale will take place at the SwissTech Convention Center (STCC).

Please note that the access to the STCC for the Magistrale ceremony is only available until 10:30 a.m., and it is not possible to block seats after this time.

Please make your best to be on time!

We would like to remind you that the locations, times and procedures for the afternoon graduation ceremonies will be announced in the morning ceremony. Your presence is also expected in the morning for the ceremony.

The invitation you will receive to the Magistrale ceremony serves as your Visa invitation letter. Please note that this invitation will only be sent to you once you have graduated.

Absence at the Magistrale

If you are unable to attend the Magistrale, your diploma will be sent to you by registered mail within 2 months of the Magistrale. Please inform us of your inability to attend the event, and send us an e-mail to etudiants@epfl.ch with your postal address.

If you are unable to attend the Magistrale, you will have the opportunity to pick up your gift after the ceremony at the reception desk of the EPFL. More information will be provided further on.

A live stream of the morning ceremony is planned so that you can follow the ceremony from a distance.

Day of the Magistrale

Please present your electronic tickets at the STCC entrance. Graduating students and their guests must check-in at the same time, indicating the student’s family name.

Tickets are personal and non-transferable. Because of the carefully planned seating arrangements, you cannot bring additional guests or use another graduating student’s tickets.

If you have any questions on the day of the Magistrale (lost tickets, name changes, etc.), please come to the tent in front of the STCC when the doors open.

The EPFL campus can easily be accessed by public transport, and we invite you to prioritise this mean of travelling, as parking spaces are limited in numbers.

All the car parks on campus are available on the day of the Magistrale, except the Rivier and Esplanade car parks.

The EPFL access page lists all available options to access the campus.

For people with reduced mobility:

  • via the Garden (level -1 ) with the option of taking the lift afterwards,
  • via level 0 as shown on the attached map.

Please be informed that there is no specific dress code for the ceremony.

Unless for medical reasons, it is not permitted to bring animals into the SwissTech Convention Center or campus rooms.

For non-French speakers only, a simultaneous translation service from French to English will be available for the morning’s Official Ceremony.

Headsets will be available at the entrances of the SwissTech Convention Center.

Please keep access to this service only to the persons concerned.

The campus restaurants are not open on the day of the Graduation Ceremony, each section organizes an aperitif for graduates and their relatives.

However, Migros, Denner and HolyCow in the North district remain open to the public.
